DIY Fall Perfume Blends

The fragrances of Fall are spicy, warm, and comforting. Fall scents are for sale everywhere in major stores. You can buy Fall fragrances in anything from candles, to body washes, to perfumes, and more. However, those fragrances are artificially made with chemicals and not so natural ingredients. These ingredients aren’t what you want to put on your skin! As you know, most of what you put on your skin is absorbed. The best thing you can do for your skin might be to use all natural and organic ingredients. Isn’t it better to know what ingredients you are putting on your skin as well as in your body? Many believe that what you put on your skin is just as important as what food you eat. Today, we have some fantastic DIY Fall perfume blends made with all natural ingredients and essential oils.

To make any of these into a perfume blend, simply add the essential oils to a roll-on bottle using a pipette. Next, fill it up with sweet almond oil, leaving a small amount of room at the top before closing it. Shake gently before each use. You can roll these perfumes on your wrists, behind your ears, and even behind your knees.

Nourishing Fall Lotion

nourishing fall lotion

Fall – it requires a skin care transition. Some extra moisture is now required, thanks to cooling temperatures and an increase of breezes. We’re not complaining, the weather is wonderful and we love it. However, it’s important to change up your skin care routine as the seasons change. Today, we have a super nourishing Fall lotion to soothe dry skin and keep it healthy. This is a body lotion, and works especially well for elbows, knees, and any other super dry or scaly spots on your body. Shea butter provides deep, penetrating moisture, while Coconut Oil provides a moisturizing barrier to keep moisture in. The essential oils smell decadent and enhance multiple skin care benefits. You don’t want to miss out on this fabulous nourishing Fall lotion – and it’s so easy to make!

Here’s what you need:

How to make it:

In a double boiler, melt together your shea butter and coconut oil on low-medium heat. Once it is fully liquid, take it off of the heat. Add in your almond oil, vitamin E oil, and then your essential oils. Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture for about five minutes. Put the mixture into the fridge for a few hours, and then let it sit out in room temperature for a couple of hours. Whip one final time. Use a piping bag or makeshift piping bag (a ziplock with a hole at the corner) to squeeze the lotion into your pump lotion bottle. Keep your lotion in a room temperature environment. You can take a small amount and rub it directly onto skin.

If you prefer different essential oils, you can always replace the Fall scents with different oils. It’s a personal preference.

DIY Fall Lip Balm

Fall is just around the corner, and it’s time for an adjustment to skin care regimens. It’s time to make sure you stay moisturized all over to keep skin safe from drying skin and weather. Your lips are especially susceptible, being the thinnest skin on your body. They’re easily chapped, dried, and even crack during Fall and Winter months. Keeping lips moisturized is the best way to protect against these things happening. We have a fun DIY Fall lip balm recipe with nourishing ingredients to protect your lips. You can store your lip balm in traditional lip balm containers, or you can use cute little tins. These make great little gifts, so print out some adorable labels to put on these and give them out to family and friends!

What You Need

How to Make it

Using the double boiler method, melt together your cocoa butter, beeswax, and coconut oil over low-medium heat. Make sure to stir occasionally. Once it is melted, remove it from the heat and add your honey. Let it sit for about five minutes, and then add in your essential oils. Mix well, and then pour your mixture into the container of your choice.

This DIY Fall lip balm will smell like the seasons are changing, and get you excited for the Fall season! It uses all natural, nourishing ingredients. Cocoa Butter provides penetrating moisture that seeps beneath the skin to provide long lasting moisture. The coconut oil provides moisture on top of your lips to keep a protective moisture barrier. The honey is antibacterial and full of antioxidants that skin craves. The essential oils combine with multiple beneficial properties, and create a spicy Fall aroma.

Sinus Relief Balm

Sinus Relief Balm

sinus relief balm

Any time the seasons change, or even when the weather changes, sinuses run amuck. Allergies are no joke, and can range from mild to simply debilitating. The rain and wind from storms can pick up a bunch of things that aren’t normally in the air, and swirl them around anyone who goes outside. It’s a pain, and it’s not pleasant. Seasonal allergy medications and antihistamines like Benadryl can cause drowsiness, which I’m not too fond of. Even if I’m having a sneeze attack, I have to get over it and get back to my day, or back to work.

It can make you completely miserable having a stuffy nose. Your nose is a wonderfully designed filtration system. It prevents those small pesky particles from getting to the rest of your body. However, this does mean your nose takes on the grunt of your seasonal allergic reactions. Snot, sneezes, and more, oh my!

Luckily, we have essential oils on our side. This recipe calls for three essential oils:
  • RosemaryRosemary essential oil helps clear up sinuses, and clear up mucus. It has antibacterial properties, and your nose needs those properties right now!
  • LemonLemon essential oil has a mood-enhancing fragrance, which helps when you’re miserable thanks to sinuses. It’s also anti-bacterial.
  • Eucalyptus – This is arguably the best essential oil for clearing your respiratory system. It has a clean, energetic scent and gets the job done.

For this recipe, there are two storage options. You can use lip balm tins to make it more portable, or just use a small sealable glass jar.

Ingredients for your Sinus Relief Balm

To Make

Using a double boiler on low-medium heat, combine the beeswax pastimes and coconut oil. Melt, then remove from the heat. Next, you can add in your sweet almond oil and essential oils. Stir until very well combined. Before your mixture melts, pour it into your containers. Cool them at room temperature for a few hours, or in the fridge for an hour.

To use your sinus relief balm, take your finger and get a pea size amount. Rub it into your neck and chest area. You can also put a very small amount underneath your nose. Do this any time you’re having sinus issues to gain relief!

How to Make Chemical Free Shampoo

How to Make Chemical Free Shampoo

how to make chemical free shampoo

Shampoo goes on your hair and scalp. That means that at least some portion of the shampoo you use absorbs into your bloodstream, through the scalp. Now, go grab a bottle of your shampoo. Find the ingredients list, and read it aloud. Can you pronounce all of the ingredients? If not, it can be scary! Whatever those ingredients are can be absorbing into your skin without you realizing it. Many times, these ingredients include hormone disruptors like Triclosan and sulfates like SLS. You don’t want any of that going onto your skin, let alone in it. Learn how to make chemical free shampoo so you can pronounce all your ingredients, and you know what’s going on that pretty head of yours!

What You Need

How to Make it

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine your coconut milk, castille soap, almond oil, and peppermint oil. Using a whisk, stir together all ingredients very well. Sometimes a hand mixer will cause too many suds while you’re making the shampoo.
  2. Using a funnel, put your new shampoo creation into your pump bottle. Shake lightly before using.
  3. To use, pump a generous amount into your hands, and pull through wet hair starting at the roots. Next, massage your scalp and make sure the shampoo is evenly distributed.
  4. Rinse your hair, and you’re good to go!

The coconut milk and almond oil will provide moisturizing properties and nutrients for your hair. The peppermint oil stimulates your scalp and the roots, and the scent is quite invigorating.  The castille soap allows the shampoo to easily create suds and rinse out. The pump bottle will make it easy to store and use your new shampoo. Now that you know how to make chemical free shampoo, what will you learn to make next?
