DIY Shampoo

Shampoo is one of those items considered a necessity. We all love the feeling of clean hair that smells nice! What we don’t want is to put a product on our hair and scalp that may contain harmful ingredients that can be easily absorbed into the bloodstream. Some experts believe that putting toxins on your skin is even worse than eating them. When you eat something that isn’t organic, there are enzymes in your saliva and stomach to help break down and flush out toxins. When you place toxins on your skin, chemicals are absorbed to your bloodstream and don’t go through a filtering process. Chemicals found in most store bought shampoos include parabens, which mimic estrogens and may be linked to breast cancer. In order to avoid these pesky chemicals, the best route to take is to make your own natural beauty products. Here is a very simple DIY Shampoo that is paraben and toxin free!

Items needed:

Directions:

  • Using a glass bowl with a spout or a large Pyrex measuring cup, mix the Castille Soap, Distilled Water, Coconut Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil well.
  • Put in your baking soda and mix thoroughly.
  • Add in your essential oils, and mix well one final time.
  • Pour the mixture into your pump bottle.
  • Shake well before each use.

Lavender and peppermint oils both stimulate the scalp as well as encourage growth. If you have other essential oils to add, you can add up to 10 more drops of essential oils to this DIY Shampoo recipe. We hope you’ve enjoyed learning how to make this simple DIY!
