Exfoliating Hand Soap

Why do you need exfoliating hand soap? Our hands are our tools. We use them constantly, whether we think about it or not. During cooler months, hands need extra care, just like the rest of your skin. Our hands are the most exposed parts of our body. We use them to touch, pick up, hug, pet, garden, work, type, and play. To keep hands in top shape, you need to moisturize. To make sure moisture is locked into your hands, you need to exfoliate first.

Exfoliating before moisturizing provides many benefits. The dead skin that won’t allow access to be able to moisturize pores are eliminated after proper exfoliation. Those dead skin cells can form callouses, tough spots, and rough textures on hands. You can exfoliate hands using exfoliating hand soap that you make yourself at home. It is very inexpensive to make, especially compared to store bought products which can be $20+. Why spend the extra money when you can make a non toxic alternative at home?

Ingredients

How to make it

  1. In a bowl, combine your liquid castille soap, distilled water, lavender oil, and sweet almond oil.
  2. Mix well. Some small lumps are okay!
  3. Slowly add in your baking soda little by little, and stir well in between.
  4. Put your mixture into your pump bottle.
  5. Shake before each use, as some ingredients may settle after making.

The baking soda will gently exfoliate your hands while the castille soap cleans them. Lavender oil and sweet almond oil will moisturize hands, while protecting your skin. Baking soda is a natural, inexpensive exfoliant and is gentle on hands. It’s an ingredient that can be used in skin care, laundry, or even in DIY cleaning recipes for your home!
