It’s March, and almost St. Patrick’s Day! It’s a celebration of Irish heritage, which this country has plenty of.

In fact, I took a DNA test recently and discovered I’m 30% Irish. It’s always a fun time celebrating your heritage.

I thought it would be fun to make some shamrock cocoa lotion bars, combining some of my favorite things. St. Patrick’s Day lore says that St. Patrick used the three leaves of a clover to explain the holy trinity. Clovers and four leaf clovers are also symbolic of luck, and are a truly beautiful plant.

Cocoa Butter is an ultra-hydrating skincare ingredient that is very diverse. It’s harder than shea butter or mango butter, making it perfect for creating lotion bars. Alright, let’s make some fun shamrock cocoa lotion bars!

What you need

How to make it

Use a double boiler on low-medium heat to fully melt the cocoa butter. When the cocoa butter is almost fully liquid, add in the coconut oil.

The coconut oil melts much faster than the cocoa butter, so it doesn’t require as much time. Remove from the heat, and stir well.

Next, add in your colorant if you are using any, and then the lavender oil. Lavender oil truly compliments the cocoa smell beautifully!

Very carefully pour the liquid into your silicone mold. Let it sit in the freezer for a couple of hours, or the fridge for several hours.

Take them out, and carefully pop out of the molds. Store it in a sealed jar or container. Rub the shamrock cocoa lotion bars over your skin for a silky smooth experience.

Have a safe and joyous St. Patrick’s Day!
